Eat!!!

WARNING!! This post will make you hungry...

E is for Eat

We as homeo sapians all need to eat at some point in time and in some way, shape or form. So, let's talk about food. What is your favorite thing to eat? What won't you touch with a 10ft pole?

I've realized as I grow older that I'm more curious to try new foods. When I was younger I was one of the pickiest eaters ever. There are still some things that I'm not crazy about, like broccoli, but I'm more open to trying new things. I'm also more of a snacker. Instead of eating three full meals a day, I'd rather snack on bits of food here and there. I used to have some very unhealthy eating habits in my past that I still struggle with them at times to get over.

After I had my daughters I became fully aware that I was in charge of nurturing these beautiful little beings. They looked to me to make good choices for them. Gone were the days of eating popcorn for dinner and Ramen noodles for breakfast. Almost two years ago we removed things like pop and sugary juices from our house. We also switched all our starches over to whole grains. I've added a lot more "greens" into our diet and while the tiny humans don't always eat them, they're offered nonetheless. I'm passionate about buying organic and locally grow food as well. It's a slow process, though. Once we accomplish one step towards eating healthier another area is brought to our attention.

I really enjoy cooking and trying out new recipes. Here's one of my favorites: Pesto French Bread Pizza

Mouth.Watering.Now....Off to eat!

  3. I also switched over to a much healthier lifestyle when I became a mother. All around I'm striving to leave a smaller footprint on the earth and provide better opportunities for my children.

I am not at all picky and luckily my children aren't very picky, either.

  4. I switched to a healthier diet when I started running marathons. My perception of food changed and I began to see it as fuel. I hope I can instill the same view of food in my daughter, but I know it won't be easy.

You were right! I am hungry for some pizza now!

  6. Hmm..Pizza! I wasn't a big fan of pizza until I was on the 5 day reset program. For 5 days, I was only allowed to eat what's on the package plus 1 fruit serving and 1 veg serving. All those time, all I think was Pizza.. Eating healthy food does great to our body. And teaching your children to eat healthy, they'll thank you for that someday.

  10. I don't know about the pesto, but the rest of that looks good!

I was a very picky eater as a kid too, wouldn't eat vegetables except carrots (and not from a can) and corn (and that's not even a vegetable). It wasn't until I hit 30 or so that I started eating more, and I now love broccoli, cauliflower and brussel sprouts.

  11. We don't have soda or sugary snacks in our house either. As a kid, I was very picky, but I loved veggies and hated meat. I still do. lol

  12. I'm definitely a food fan! Okra gives me the creeps and I take a pass when my hubby takes our daughter out for sushi, but other than those few exceptions, I'm not one of those women who pretends not to eat. :O)
