Kaleidoscope

K is for Kaleidoscope

"Creativity is a lot like looking at the world through a kaleidoscope. You look at a set of elements, the same ones everyone else sees, but then reassemble those floating bits and pieces into an enticing new possibility. Effective leaders are able to shake up their thinking as though their brains are kaleidoscopes, permitting an array of different patterns out of the same bits of reality." - Rosabeth Moss Kanter

Besides being a pretty gnarly word to spell, kaleidoscopes could keep me busy for hours. I love the different psychedelic patterns and movement. I've always felt that they've had a calming sense over me. It allows you to focus on one moving/changing item while the world around you fades into the background. Yeah, I'm a hippie. Sue me.

I could watch this forever! interactive psychedelic kaleidoscope

Don't blame me if time flies bye while you're painting beautiful patterns and you're late to pick up the kids from school.

Sorry, I was going to finish this post and I was distracted by the site above. Enjoy some of these pictures instead!

It never fails that when I see or hear the word, my mind starts replaying Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds...

  10. Very cool, I love kaleidoscopes. Years ago there used to be a kaleidoscope screen saver, can't remember if it was on Windows 3.1 or 95, but it was cool to watch.
