F is for Fairy House
I remember when I was little and still very uninfluenced by the world. My surroundings were magical. Myths from movies and books intertwined with real life in a beautiful way. I could be walking down a path in the woods and hear a sound off in the distance...Was it a fairy? A handsome prince? Woodland creatures? I could sit and imagine for hours about amusing adventures we would have.
This is the feeling that I love to foster in my girls. The belief that anything is possible. Building Your Own Fairy House is one of the most spectacular ways I've found to do this. Directions on how we have built ours are in the link, but you can follow whatever path your imagination takes you. It's an activity fun for all ages and changes as your child grows.
Here is ours when we first created it last year. It has changed with the seasons as you can find different nature items at different times of the year.
I have said many times how much I adore this idea, but I feel like I cannot possibly express how brilliant it is *lol* So creative!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of fostering imagination in children. I think it's one of the most creative things parents (and grandparents) can do for children, because it opens up a whole world of possibilities.
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative idea!
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing and it sounds like so much fun. My kids' imaginations are incredible and I love seeing the things they come up with, too. :)
ReplyDeleteI love fairies! I can't build an outside house for them, so I built one I keep inside the house. That's a great home for them. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh this is so magical! I remember doing things like this with my sister when I was little.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! Great blog post. You're post took me back to the summer I was 9 when a couple of friends and I played out a murder mystery all summer long. We found clues everywhere! lol
ReplyDeletep.s. I found you on the a-z blogging challenge
This is a great idea! I can't wait to try it with my daughter!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is great! i live in Ann Arbor and an artist several years back convinced a dozen local businesses to let him install fairy doors--some are inside, some are outside. The outside ones always have little offerings left for them. It's delightful. (you can google ann arbor fairy doors if you're curious). Your fairies look less urban; I love the spirit you're nurturing in your kids with them!
